- List several use cases for automation
Build flows that automate manual tasks
Automation enables you to automatically complete tasks with simple flow definitions. It’s very easy to use and doesn’t require coding, making it one of the best tools for admins in Atlassian apps.
👇Click the boxes below to explore some of the benefits of automation.
What can you automate?
You can use automation in Jira, Jira Service Management, Jira Product Discovery, and Confluence. There are steps of automation flows built for specific apps, as well as ones that you can use for any app.
In these apps, you can automate using schedules, notifications, integrations, comments, searches, and more. You can create flows that:
- Create subtasks when a work item is created.
- Create a Confluence page when a work item is moved to a specific status.
- Automatically apply specific templates to new pages created in a specific space.
- Randomly assign high-priority work to team members.
- Send a message when a work item's due date is approaching or it hasn't been commented on for a day.
- Create a task for a team member to update documentation in Confluence when a work item is closed.
- Automatically close old work items with no recent activity.
- Notify the assignee when an SLA is about to breach.
- Automate a change process
Who can use automation?
App admins in Jira and Confluence can create global flows, which are automation flows that apply across multiple spaces.
In Jira, space admins for both company-managed and team-managed spaces can only create automation flows for their spaces. These are called space flows.
Space admins in Confluence can create automation flows for their spaces, called space flows as well.
